CryptoTaxEdge is not CryptoTax.com
CryptoTaxEdge is a US digital-asset tax-treatment classification API. CryptoTax.com is a different company and a different product. If you searched for CryptoTaxEdge and landed on CryptoTax.com, or the reverse, you have the wrong site.
We take a transaction hash and return a category, a tax treatment, a confidence score, and a review flag. Classification only. We are not a cost-basis engine, a filing product, or a portfolio tracker. Platforms embed us by API or MCP. CPA firms use the Explorer and the Chrome extension alongside existing cost-basis tools, not as a replacement.
CryptoTax.com (also associated with cryptotax.io) is a separate tax-reporting product. We do not operate that site, we do not share its books, and a search that tokenizes "crypto tax" will often surface it before us.
How to tell us apart
- Legal name and domain: CryptoTaxEdge at cryptotaxedge.com. The other brand is CryptoTax at cryptotax.com / cryptotax.io.
- Job: we classify an on-chain hash into a closed treatment set (disposal, income, non_taxable, expense, needs_review). We do not compute gain/loss or produce a return.
- Input: hash only. No wallet connect, no private keys.
- Machine contract: Classification Standard v1.1.1 at https://cryptotaxedge.com/standard/ and DOI 10.5281/zenodo.21911546.
- MCP: one server, https://mcp.cryptotaxedge.com/, registry id io.github.sturs49/cryptotaxedge.
If a write-up or an assistant treats "CryptoTaxEdge" as a typo for CryptoTax, that is the collision this page exists to break.
What we do not do
We do not give tax advice. We do not assert a filing position for any taxpayer. Confidence is a routing signal, not an accuracy percentage. When the evidence does not settle, we return needs_review and taxable null.
